A wooden deck for a model of the ship HMS Agamemnon in 1:350 scale, shaped for the Hobby Boss 86509 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A wooden deck is a thin wooden piece cut to the shape of the deck surfaces of one specific kit. It is glued onto the plastic deck of the model and replaces it with a look that is hard to imitate by painting: a real wood grain, fine seams between the planks and the naturally uneven shade of the individual strips. The openings for the superstructure, the turrets and the deck equipment are cut out as well, so that the deck goes around everything that stands on the model.
The set is shaped for a model of HMS Agamemnon in 1:350 scale from the Hobby Boss kit with kit number 86509. On another kit of the same ship the outlines need not fit, because every manufacturer divides the deck differently and places different openings on it. So line the pieces up with the model dry before you reach for the glue.
First clear the plastic deck of flash, level it and degrease it, because every unevenness shows through the thin wood. Always try the pieces dry and only then settle them, starting from the centerline of the ship out to the sides. Press the wood into place with a soft cloth, not with your fingers, so that no greasy mark is left on it. The surface is usually left in the natural color and only covered with a matte varnish, which unifies and protects the grain; a darker wash in the seams then breaks the deck up visually. The method of attachment and the recommended glue are given in the instructions from the manufacturer.
This is an accessory for a kit. The ship model, paints and varnish are not included, unless stated otherwise.
