A deck masking template for the battleship HMS Lord Nelson in 1:350 scale from Artwox Model lets you create the wooden areas of the deck by spraying. Cut for the Hobby Boss 86508 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is neither a model nor a kit, but a self-adhesive masking template cut to the deck of the Hobby Boss 86508 kit. It serves to separate the wooden areas from the steel finish during spraying.
The drawback of a sprayed deck is monotony: one shade across the whole area looks like a painted board. The solution is simple: after the base shade of wood, and before the mask is stuck on, vary the planks slightly. Very thinned lighter and darker paint applied in narrow strips along the laying is enough, and only in some places. Once dry the differences soften and the area gains the depth that a uniform spraying never has.
Only onto a cured and varied surface do the mask and after it the steel shade go. Once the mask is off it is a good idea to flow thinned dark paint into the engraved gaps, which picks out the gaps between the planks. Finally unify the whole model with a matte clear coat, which pulls the sheen of the finish down along with any traces of mask adhesive, and the surface will look uniform.
The template is an accessory to a kit. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
