Artwox Model 1:350 IJN Nagato is a wooden veneer deck with an adhesive backing and pre-printed plank laying, cut for the plastic deck of one specific kit.

An accessory, not a kit. The set contains a thin veneer of real wood printed with the laying of the deck planks and with an adhesive back, which is glued straight onto the plastic deck of the model. It is cut for one specific kit, the Hasegawa 40024, so check before you buy that this is exactly the release you are building.
The deck of a battleship is not a smooth board. The bases of the gun turrets, winches, hatches, the feet of masts and the edges of the superstructure all pass through it, and it is precisely around them that you can tell whether the deck is well laid. The cutouts in the veneer are made in advance, but the clearance tends to be minimal, so it pays to lay each piece dry first and check that all the openings line up at the same time. If one hole fits and another does not, the piece is shifted and has to be lined up rather than forced. Small gaps around the openings can be retouched with a dark shade that suggests a shadow in a seam, which is less conspicuous than painting over the wood. Glue the superstructure and the turrets on after the deck is laid, not the other way round.
Sand and degrease the plastic in advance. Take the film off the back in sections. Once it is glued down, the wood can be left in its natural tone or lightly unified with thinned wood stain. The seams between the planks are brought out with a very thin dark wash and the surface is finally protected with a thin coat of matte varnish.
The accessory is supplied separately. The kit, paints and varnish are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
