This set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard contains stainless-steel photo-etch aimed at the railings of a plastic model of the American aircraft carrier Hornet in 1:350 scale. It replaces the coarse plastic railings with fine photo-etched parts that markedly increase scale fidelity. The set on its own is not a ship model, it is a specialized accessory to the base kit.
USS Hornet was an American aircraft carrier of the Second World War. She became famous for launching the bombers of the first raid on Japan and for her part in the Battle of Midway. Her extensive decks and walkways were lined with long railings, and rendering them faithfully lifts the look of the finished model considerably.
The photo-etched railing is separated with a sharp knife on a firm surface and glued in short sections with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Work patiently and follow the outline of the deck. Degrease the parts before painting. Thin photo-etched railing bends easily, so handle it with care.
This is an add-on photo-etched railing set, not a kit. The plastic model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
