This is not one large vehicle model but a set of small plastic models of American amphibious landing craft in 1:350 scale. This scale is used mainly for ships, so the set serves above all to complete the deck of a landing ship, a shore scene or the surface of the water. Which particular types the set contains and in what numbers is given on its packaging. The name marks the second set in the series, and a first set exists as well.
Amphibious landing vehicles carried cargo and people from a ship to the shore, and in small scales they are mainly what gives a ship model scale and context. An empty deck looks static, whereas a few small vehicles immediately suggest how big the vessel is and what it was for. The set works just as well on dioramas, where the vehicles create the transition between the water and the shore.
Expect the parts to be very small. Work on a light-colored surface over which nothing will disappear and cut them off with a sharp scalpel rather than nippers, so that they do not snap. Glue them with liquid cement applied with a fine brush in a minimal amount. Painting is quickest freehand: a base from a spray can or an airbrush, then a very fine dry brush on the edges and a weak wash in the recesses, which in a small scale creates the impression of detail even where there is none. Set the tracks, wheels and canvas parts apart by shade rather than by texture. The vehicles will not be lost on a deck if you settle them naturally, at slightly different angles.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
