Very Fire 1:350 USS Searchlight is a supplementary set of US Navy ship searchlights in three types and twelve complete units. It is not a ship kit but a detail accessory.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set is intended for detailing models of American warships in 1:350 scale. According to the name it contains searchlights in three types, twelve complete units in all. Searchlights are among the parts that tend to be simplified in large kits, and yet they are clearly visible in the silhouette of the superstructures. The specific make-up of the package, the material of the parts and the diameters of the reflectors are stated on the box.
US Navy warships carried several sizes of signaling and fighting searchlights during the Second World War. The smaller ones served for signaling and for maneuvering in formation, while the large reflectors on the platforms by the superstructure were for illuminating targets in night action and for searching for vessels. They were placed on raised platforms so as to have a clear view over the superstructures, and their arrangement differed from ship to ship and changed during service.
First check on a photograph or in the instructions where the searchlights actually stood on your ship, and only then start cutting. Separate the parts with a fresh blade, wash resin castings beforehand in lukewarm water with detergent and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. The body of the searchlight is painted in the shade of the superstructure, while the lens comes out well if you leave it glossy or go over it with clear varnish; a drop of gloss varnish over light silver gives a convincing impression of glass. A faint wash will bring out the rims and the frame.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit in its own right. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
