A picture publication, not a kit. The sixteenth volume of the Ultra Detail Guide series from the publisher Komakai is devoted to the Lotus Ford Type 72E and serves as a detailed photographic reference while building a model. With 262 pages in A5 format it is one of the fullest volumes in the series.
The Lotus 72 is among the most successful designs in the history of Formula 1 — it raced for six seasons, from 1970 to 1975. It brought in the wedge profile and, above all, the radiators moved from the nose into the sidepods, which then became the norm. The E version raced in 1973, when Team Lotus built four cars in the black and gold colors of John Player Special for Emerson Fittipaldi and Ronnie Peterson and took the constructors' title; Fittipaldi won in Argentina and Brazil. For a modeler it is a rewarding subject: exposed suspension, a narrow body and that famous paint scheme.
For modelers of historic single-seaters and for anyone building the Lotus 72 in any scale. The fullness of the volume makes it useful documentation for a collector as well, and for those working out the exact painting of the black and gold scheme.
