A red tied to the standardized value RAL 3018, whose name in the standard refers to the strawberry. It is a clean, brightly saturated red with a slight shift into a cooler, raspberry pink position, so it is neither a brick nor an orange red.
It is exactly the difference between the individual reds that tends to be the greatest source of disappointment with models, because side by side on a chart they look almost the same, but on a body they part ways. The basic numbered Number Five palette carries several red tones side by side and this one is the cooler, strawberry one; the neighboring traffic red is warmer and more signal-like against it. When you build a model to documentation with a number given, this difference is the only reliable guide.
It aims at modelers who tell the individual reds apart and want to have in hand exactly the one that the subject gives. It pays to compare it with the neighboring reds from the same palette before you decide on a whole body; on a small sample the differences between reds are more legible than in a preview image.
