A red shade from the color range of the Number Five brand. The name leads to the Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI racing car, whose deep red body is among the most memorable in the history of touring cars.

The car the shade derives from

The 155 V6 TI machine was created for the German touring car championship of the day and shared a silhouette with the production sedan rather than any engineering. It received a naturally aspirated V6, four-wheel drive, a sequential gearbox and extensive aerodynamics with a large rear wing and adjustable items on the floor. In the opening 1993 season Nicola Larini won the championship with it straight away, and the red finish of the car became a byword.

Use

• A warm red needs a uniform and rather light ground, or it loses brightness and looks faded.
• Stir the bottle smooth, because with deep pigments the difference between stirred and unstirred paint shows at once.
• Apply it step by step and let the surface rest between coats so the tone settles evenly.
• Lay out the areas with sponsor decals in advance, as a touring car body tends to carry a lot of them.
