Number Five Airbrush Cleaner, 100 ml

A cleaner intended for flushing paint residue of the Number Five brand out of an airbrush. The package holds 100 milliliters. According to the manufacturer it also suits wiping fresh overspray off a work surface and off tools. It is not a thinner: a separate product of the same brand is there for thinning paint, and the cleaner is built to dissolve deposits, not to adjust the consistency of paint.

Use

• After each shade, flush the cup and the nozzle before the paint dries
• At the end of the session, take the airbrush apart and wipe the needle and the nozzle with a moistened cloth
• Let dried deposits soften; do not scrape them with a metal tool
• Do not needlessly bathe the airbrush seals in cleaner, as aggressive chemicals do them no good
• Do not pour used cleaner down the drain; collect it in a closed container

Why not to skimp on cleaning

Most trouble with an airbrush comes not from a fault in the tool but from deposits. Paint residue in the nozzle throws the spray off to one side and causes spitting and blots in the middle of a surface. Once a deposit gets between the needle and the nozzle, the airbrush stops sealing and starts to drip. Regular cleaning therefore saves both a repair and a great deal of spoiled work on a model.

Safety note

The product is flammable and volatile. Work in a well-ventilated area, away from open flame and sources of sparks, and wear gloves. Avoid contact with the eyes and the skin, keep out of the reach of children and close the bottle carefully.
