The Polishing pad from the Number Five brand is a carrier for polishing paste. It spreads the pressure evenly across a surface, which neither a finger nor a crumpled cloth can do.

An aid for the closing phase of painting, when the model is already sprayed and the only thing left is the quality of the surface. The pad itself removes nothing; it is a carrier onto which polishing paste is applied, and at the same time a springy backing that keeps the pressure spread evenly across the whole contact area.
When polishing with a finger through a cloth, the entire force gathers at a single point. The result tends to be hollows in the places of greatest pressure and polished-through edges, where the paint has thinned down to the plastic. A flat springy pad evens out this unevenness: the edges stay untouched and the surface becomes uniform, because the paste reaches everywhere in the same way.
For builders of automobiles, motorcycles and anything that is meant to have a body smooth enough for a display case. It is useful as well where an unsuccessful spray coat is being put right and the point is to return the surface to its original state without respraying the whole part. It will do a smaller but noticeable service on clear parts too, where polishing removes the traces of the mold and the glazing is returned to a clear state.
The polishing paste is not supplied with the pad and is bought separately according to the grade required.
