Anthracite Grey RAL7016

Number Five Anthracite Grey RAL7016

A modeling paint from the Spanish brand Number Five in a bottle of 30 milliliters. The shade corresponds to anthracite gray under the European RAL standard, number 7016, that is, a very dark neutral gray with a bluish cast. The paint is supplied at a consistency ready for spraying with an airbrush.

Where the color is used

Anthracite gray is one of the most versatile colors in a modeling kit. It is used on frames, chassis, protective trim and the plastic parts of modern cars, where black would look too hard. That is exactly its main merit: on a scale model black paint looks like a hole with no shape, whereas a very dark gray admits the shapes and lets shadow and reflection show on them.

How to work with the paint

• Shake the bottle thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles to the bottom
• The paint is supplied at a consistency ready for spraying and further thinning is usually not needed
• It should be thinned and cleaned up exclusively with the thinner and cleaner of the same brand
• Apply it in several thin coats and let them flash off
• On large surfaces work in bands from the edge so that no streaks form

Who the paint is for

• Builders of car and motorcycle models
• Modelers who want an exact shade without mixing
• Anyone who paints with an airbrush and does not want to hunt for a thinning ratio

Safety note

Work in a well-ventilated space and use a respirator when spraying, as an aerosol forms. Keep out of the reach of children and away from sources of ignition, close the bottle carefully after use and avoid contact with eyes and skin.
