A Number 5 modeling paint in a blue shade listed under the designation Olio blue, with no tie to a particular car.
Responsibility details are not available.
A blue from the Number 5 brand, listed under the designation Olio blue. It belongs to the part of the range where the paints do not carry the name of a particular car, so it is not tied to a single subject and you will use it just as well on a body, on chassis parts and on fittings.
Blue behaves differently on a scale model than on a real car. A small curved surface gathers less light, so the shade looks darker and deeper than it does on a color chart. Builders deal with this in two ways: either they lighten the blue slightly by mixing white in, or they leave it as it is and bring the light back into the surface with gloss. The degree of gloss does a great deal here; under clear varnish blue goes darker and gains depth, whereas a matte surface lightens and calms it.
Stir the paint well before every use, as the pigment settles at the bottom. Apply several thin coats and let the surface flash off between them; one heavy coat floods the line work of the panel gaps and gathers into ridges on the edges. It can only be thinned with the thinner recommended for this range; the ratio is given in the manufacturer's instructions, and a thinner from elsewhere will curdle the paint into grains. Wash and degrease the model before painting and unify the filled areas with a base coat.
For builders of car models and for anyone looking for a blue to add to their palette. The model, the base coat, the thinner and the clear varnish are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
