Lola Yellow is a yellow shade from Number Five completing the trio of colors named after the British constructor Lola.
Responsibility details are not available.
The third shade of the trio named after the British constructor of racing cars. Yellow is the most conspicuous among them and on racing cars it did not fill the role of a discreet paint: it served as a ground on which the sponsor marks were legible even from the grandstand and on a television picture.
Lola did not build only sports prototypes. It supplied chassis to the whole European formula pyramid, from the lower classes through Formula 2 and Formula 3000 up to Formula 5000 with large displacement engines, and its machinery ran in Japanese formula and sports series as well. It was exactly in these series that the look of a car was decided by its sponsor, so the same body appeared in sharply differing colors. Saturated yellow grounds were common among them, because they were easy to work with in the graphics of a livery.
It will serve modelers who build formula cars of customer construction and want a yellow in the racing position to hand: saturated, but not fluorescent. It is practical for collections too, where more than one car of identical construction stands side by side and the color is the only thing that tells them apart at first sight.
