A supplementary decal set from Quinta Studio for the cockpit of the AH-1Z attack helicopter in 1:35 scale. The set shows the displays in the lit state and is meant to be used together with the AH-1Z interior sets from the same manufacturer. It is not an interior set in its own right and not a kit. The set is designed for the Academy kit.
The displays are applied to the finished instrument panels once they are painted. The procedure is the same as with ordinary decals: go over the surface with gloss varnish, let the decal soak briefly in lukewarm water, slide it off the backing paper into place and press it down with a cotton swab so that no silvered bubbles are left. Draw the surplus water off with the edge of a paper tissue and let it dry thoroughly. Finally the panels are unified with matte varnish: the frames matte, while the face of the display may stay glossy so that it keeps the impression of glass.
For modelers who build the cockpit as a display feature in its own right and want it to look switched on. In 1:35 scale the inside of the cockpit is clearly visible with the doors open, so the difference between a dark surface and a legible display is striking.
The set is an accessory for a model. The model, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
