A premium plastic kit of the German light cruiser SMS Dresden in 1:700 scale from Flyhawk, in the Deluxe form. Compared with the basic edition, this package adds a rich set of photo-etched parts, metal gun barrels and 3D-printed details that take the place of fine parts hard to produce in injection-molded plastic. The result is an exceptionally detailed model for the display case, which more demanding builders will appreciate.
SMS Dresden was a German light cruiser from the beginning of the 20th century that made her name in her deployment at the start of the First World War. She took part in the fighting in the South Atlantic and operated in the Pacific, where she was among the fast scouting and commerce cruisers of the Imperial German Navy. Her slender hull, her funnels and her open gun positions are characteristic of the era of pre-dreadnought light cruisers.
Given the quantity of fine photo-etch and small parts it is best to work with super glue and tweezers. Separate the 3D-printed parts carefully from their carriers and clean them up. For the period naval gray use an airbrush, and bring the deck and the details to life with a wash and a dry brush. The metal barrels and the photo-etch raise the realism but call for patience and a more experienced hand.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
