This masking set of the Omask brand belongs to a model of the British fighter Hawker Hurricane Mk.I in 1:72 scale. The cabin of the Hurricane has an angular canopy with pronounced frames and a fixed windscreen with a frame, exactly the kind of detail that decides the overall impression a finished model makes. The set holds the mask only, and neither the model, nor paints, nor glue.
In 1940 the Hurricane was the most numerous British fighter and it was credited with more kills than all the other types put together. Its design came from an older school: a tubular truss fuselage frame with fabric covering at the rear, a thick wing and eight machine guns of .303 caliber. That very construction proved to be an advantage, because a damaged airframe could be repaired quickly and right at the squadron. Although it was slower than the Spitfire, it bore the main burden of the defensive fighting and later proved itself in desert and naval service too.
The British camouflage of the Battle of Britain combines two dark colors on top with a markedly lighter underside, and the boundary on the fuselage is soft and wavy. Cover the glazing only once the primer has been sprayed, so that it holds firmly. It is a good idea to suggest the fabric areas of the rear fuselage with a slight difference in sheen, not with a different shade, or the model looks unnatural.
