The set brings the inside of the cabin of the Mi-24D attack helicopter to life in 1:48 scale. Against flat markings the elements are shaped three-dimensionally, so that once seated they bring real instrument panels, controls and upholstery to mind. It is not a kit of the helicopter but an accessory to a model that is already part-built.
The Mil Mi-24 in the D version received a reworked nose with separately set canopies for the operator and the pilot one above the other, and this stepped profile is to this day the most striking mark of the whole family. The machine combines striking power with room for the troops carried, so it has in effect two distinct inner parts. Series production ran from the 1970s and the Hind-D spread to dozens of countries, where it served long after the end of the Cold War.
The surfaces under the elements have to be clean, degreased and perfectly dry, otherwise nothing will seat. Work in smaller pieces, carry the parts with tweezers and press them down only gently so that the relief does not flatten. Finish the inside before you close the fuselage for good, and lay the order of the work out in advance. Fit the cabin canopies right at the very end, so that no dust from sanding gets inside.
