Responsibility details are not available.
A set of color three-dimensional elements for the pilot's space of a fighter aircraft adapted for photographic reconnaissance. It is a modeling accessory in 1:72 scale that is fitted into the cockpit tub of a plastic model. The kit has to be obtained separately. The set is intended for Fine Molds kits.
The F series, nicknamed Friedrich, is among the aerodynamically cleanest forms of the whole type: it received rounded wingtips, the tailplane struts disappeared and the engine cowling was reworked. Some of the machines were rebuilt for reconnaissance tasks – vertically mounted cameras were added to the fuselage behind the cockpit and the armament was usually limited to the bare necessity, so that the machine would gain in speed and range. The pilots of these aircraft flew alone deep over enemy territory and relied above all on nobody being able to keep up with them.
In 1:72 scale a magnifier and tweezers with thin tips prove their worth. First finish the paint of the cockpit tub, then seat the instrument surfaces and finally the fittings by the seat. Check the freedom of bringing the fuselage halves together before you glue anything for good. Reconnaissance machines tended to be noticeably worn from long flights, so a restrained patina suits the interior better than factory cleanness.
