An injection-molded plastic model of the British battleship HMS Duke of York as she was in 1943, in 1:700 scale from Flyhawk. It is the Deluxe edition, that is, the form completed by additional photo-etched parts for fine details such as railings, ladders, radars and other features that cannot be faithfully captured in plastic alone. The model is finely worked and matches the modern standard of the brand.
HMS Duke of York was a British battleship of the King George V class. She made her name in December 1943 at the Battle of the North Cape, where her gunnery, with the support of other ships, contributed decisively to sinking the German battleship Scharnhorst. Ships of this class carried a main armament of 356 mm guns in turrets and were the backbone of the Royal Navy in the Second World War.
Glue the hull and the superstructures with a liquid modeling cement for plastic, and bend and bond the fine photo-etched parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Apply a base (primer) before painting, lay the paints down with an airbrush in thin coats and consider using masking for the camouflage scheme. The model can be built as a full hull or as a waterline version. Railings and fine photo-etch add to the fidelity but call for patience.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
