The KAMAZ-5490 is a modern Russian road tractor, that is a vehicle built for long-distance haulage and told apart at first glance from the older angular KAMAZ trucks by its shaped, low-drag cab. The NefAZ-93341 is the trailer that forms a working rig with the tractor. The model therefore captures not one vehicle but the whole pair as it runs on the road.
This is a plastic kit in 1:43 scale. A rig of a tractor and a trailer takes up noticeably more room in a cabinet than a passenger car, which is worth allowing for before the build. At the same time it is an item on which the difference between the older and the new generation of Russian trucks shows well.
Build the tractor and the trailer separately and join them only at the end, once both parts are painted. Sand the large flat surfaces of the cab and the sides carefully before painting. Lay the paint on in thin coats, so that the edges and the panel lines stay readable. Fit the cab glazing only once the paint is dry and with a small amount of adhesive.
The set is for collectors of trucks and for modelers who like rigs and want modern vehicles in a cabinet, not only history. Building two units one after the other takes longer than a single vehicle, but the result works in a cabinet like a whole scene.
Paints, glue and a display case are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
