A sheet of waterslide decals in 1:48 scale devoted to the anniversary of twenty years of F-16 operation in the Portuguese Air Force. The set completes a model you build from another kit; there are no plastic or photo-etched parts and no paints in the package.
The F-16 is a single-engined multirole combat aircraft that spread to dozens of countries and in each of them acquired its own form of markings over time. The Portuguese Air Force has operated the type for a long time, and commemorative schemes appeared on it for anniversaries, the kind not seen on an ordinary machine. For a modeler that is a rewarding combination: a readily available type and a finish that catches the eye on a shelf at once.
Commemorative schemes tend to be made up of large areas of color and of oversized motifs, so the quality of the surface decides the result before you reach for the first decal. Spray the model, let the paint cure completely and overcoat the areas meant for decals with a gloss clear varnish. It has to be smooth, free of grain and free of dust marks, because every speck will show as a bubble under a large motif. Only then should you apply the decals, working from the largest pieces to the smallest, so the small technical legends can be added according to the actual position of the large motifs. Leave a pause for drying between the individual larger decals, so you do not shift a neighboring motif with your hand.
The package holds decals only. The model, the paints and the varnishes are not part of it.
