A set of photo-etched parts in 1:48 scale for detailing the model of the A-10 ground-attack aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The A-10 is an American ground-attack aircraft meant for the direct support of ground units. You recognize it by its straight wing, twin vertical tails, engine nacelles carried above the rear fuselage and the massive cannon in the nose. The pilot's cockpit is armored, because the machine works low over the battlefield and is exposed to fire from the ground.
Photo-etched parts in 1:48 scale for the model of the A-10 aircraft. Etched sheet is far thinner than plastic and carries fine relief that an injection-molded part cannot hold, so it is used to replace the simplified elements of a kit. Which parts the set holds and where they go is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut the individual parts off with a sharp blade on a hard surface and sand the remains of the tab flat. Make the bends in a bending tool or between two blades, in one movement and over a sharp edge, or the sheet will crack. They are glued with super glue or a two-part adhesive; cement for polystyrene does not hold on metal. Degrease the sheet before painting and lay on a primer meant for metal, so that the paint survives handling during the build.
For a modeler who wants finer detail on an A-10 model than injection-molded plastic allows. Tweezers with smooth jaws, a sharp blade and good light pay off; some parts are very small and easily jump out of the tweezers onto the floor.
The package holds the photo-etched parts only. The model, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
