Masks for spraying a model of the Mi-8MT helicopter in 1:48 scale. They cover the glazed areas so that a clear view is left on them, and their edges follow the shape of the cockpit frames, so that spraying produces a crisp transition without laborious blocking off with tape.
The Mi-8 is a Soviet twin-engine transport helicopter, one of the most widespread machines of its kind in the world. The Mi-8MT version was given more powerful engines and in its export form is known under the designation Mi-17. The flight deck is extensively and intricately glazed, so blocking it off by hand takes a great deal of time on a model and the result tends to be uncertain.
Apply them to clean, degreased glazing before spraying. Press the edges down with a toothpick or the blunt tip of tweezers so that paint cannot run under them, and apply the paint in thin coats straight at the surface. Take a mask off as soon as the paint is dry to the touch; if you leave it on the model too long it comes away less easily. Wipe any adhesive residue off with a soft cloth and correct any run with a pointed brush. If you are varnishing the model, leave the masks in place until the last coat.
The set suits anyone building the Mi-8MT in 1:48 scale who wants straight cockpit frames without overruns. The masks are cut for the outlines of a particular kit, so check which model the set is prepared for.
The package contains masks. The model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
