An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Douglas A-4E Skyhawk carrier attack aircraft in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. The model is molded in gray and clear plastic, offers engraved panel detail, a detailed cockpit and gear bays, underwing bombs and tanks and decals for American machines. The compact airframe of the Skyhawk stands out even in 1:48 scale.
The A-4 Skyhawk was designed by Douglas as an answer to a US Navy requirement for a small, light jet attack aircraft. The designer Ed Heinemann conceived the machine so economically that its delta wing did not even have to fold for stowage on a carrier. The A-4E version received a more powerful Pratt and Whitney J52 engine, a strengthened airframe and two extra pylons, so it could carry a greater load of bombs and rockets. The Skyhawk served for decades with the Navy and the Marine Corps and became famous in the Vietnam War, among other conflicts.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with liquid cement for plastic. Apply a primer before painting and spray the camouflage with an airbrush in thin coats. Mask the cockpit glazing and bring out the panel lines with a fine wash. Paint the underwing stores and tanks separately and fit them at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
