The 1:48 Avro Anson Mk.I bomb bays set is a photo-etched accessory from Eduard aimed at the bomb bay area of the Avro Anson Mk.I model in 1:48 scale. Thin metal parts replace the simplified plastic surfaces of the kit and add structural detail that cannot be produced in injection-molded plastic. It is not a kit: the model of the aircraft has to be bought separately.
The Avro Anson Mk.I was a British twin-engine aircraft designed for maritime patrol that became famous mainly as a trainer for aircrew. It carried only a limited bomb load, which makes the bomb bay all the more interesting: it is busy, full of stiffeners and racks, and once the modeler opens it up it becomes one of the most attractive places on the finished model. That is exactly why photo-etched parts pay off in this area.
Cut the photo-etched parts with photo-etch scissors or a scalpel on a hard surface and bend them in a photo-etch bending tool, with long parts in several passes so that they stay straight. Degrease them before gluing. Glue them with super glue; on larger surfaces a slower-setting variety helps. Prime parts that are not pre-painted, and only then apply the main shade. Finish and paint the bomb bay before you close the fuselage and fit the doors. It pays to bring out the interior with a wash and a fine dry brush so that the busy structure shows.
The set is supplied as an accessory for the model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
