The engine nacelles of the B-1B Lancer bomber with the open engine bay in 1:48 scale from the brand Reskit hold the air intakes and the early exhaust nozzles. Intended for Revell kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set changes the whole section of the engine nacelles of the supersonic bomber at one stroke: the leading parts with the air intakes, the early exhaust nozzles and the open bay that can be seen into. The castings reach into a substantial part of the underside of the wing, so these are not mere end pieces. The set is intended for Revell kits.
The Lancer is a four-engined machine with a variable-geometry wing that was to penetrate to its target at low altitude and high speed. Against the earlier prototype the production machine got fixed, S-shaped intake ducts with baffles, so as to lower the radar reflectivity of the engine blades. The early and the later pieces differ in the form of the exhaust part, and this set corresponds to the earlier execution.
The extent of the intervention is large, so everything is first put together dry and only then glued, ideally with the nacelle supported until it has set. The weight of the resin calls for a firm joint, best secured with a wire pin. The inside of the bay is painted and shaded before the surrounding skin is closed. An uncovered recess deserves wiring, hoses and traces of operating fluids, otherwise it will come out empty.
The airframe of the bomber is sold separately; the set changes only its propulsion part.
