A cockpit for the Messerschmitt Bf 109K-4 in 1:48 scale from Eduard's PRINT line. An add-on set for a kit, not an aircraft model in its own right.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set replaces the cockpit of the Messerschmitt Bf 109K-4 kit in 1:48 scale with a finished assembly of considerably finer breakdown than an injection mold can manage. It is not an aircraft model but an add-on that is inserted into the fuselage before its halves are glued together. Eduard uses the PRINT designation for its most detailed add-on sets.
The Bf 109K, nicknamed Kurfurst, was the last series-built version of the Messerschmitt 109 and it saw service only at the very end of the Second World War. The K-4 version was powered by a Daimler-Benz engine of the DB 605D series and against the older Gustavs it brought an aerodynamically cleaned-up fuselage, a retractable tail wheel and a canopy with a minimum of framing. That canopy is exactly what makes the cockpit a clearly visible part of a model.
First try the set dry and only then sand according to how it sits. Material usually has to be taken off the inner walls of the fuselage, so that the halves can be drawn together without a gap at the seam. Wash the parts with lukewarm water and detergent, let them dry and spray on primer. Paint from the bottom up: the basic shade of the cockpit, a wash into the engraved lines, a fine dry brush on the edges and finally spot touches on the small colored elements, which draw the eye most in a closed cockpit. Bond with super glue and let the cockpit dry through thoroughly before closing the fuselage.
