Photo-etched steel seat belts for a model of the Boeing F/A-18E Super Hornet in 1:48 scale. They bring the seat in an open cockpit to life.
Responsibility details are not available.
An open cockpit draws the eye first and an empty seat without belts spoils it just as quickly. Belts from a kit tend to be suggested only as flat relief, or to be missing altogether. Photo-etched belts replace them with a part that has the right thickness, can be bent over the edge of the seat and left to hang loose, so that the interior looks lived in.
Steel etch is more resilient than softer metals. It holds its shape once bent, takes reshaping and repeated handling, and does not tear so easily in narrow places. That is exactly what helps with belts, because you work with them for a long time in a small space before they sit precisely as they should.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not with scissors. Shape them over a rounded edge or with a round tool so that the sag looks natural; sharp creases look harsh on a scale model. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied with a pin, one drop per part is enough. If you are going to paint or tone the belts, degrease the surface first and use a primer made for metal, otherwise the paint will chip off during handling. The exact placement and the order of assembly are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The model kit, the seat, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
