Cut TFace masks for the glazing of the Bristol Beaufighter Mk.VI night fighter in 1:48 scale. They cover the cabin from the outside and from the inside.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Bristol Beaufighter Mk.VI entered service in 1942 and became the most numerous version of the whole type. It was powered by a pair of Bristol Hercules VI radial engines, which gave the machine back the performance lost as the weight of the radar equipment grew. In the nose it carried the antenna array of an onboard radar and four twenty-millimeter Hispano cannons, so over night-time England it was among the most heavily armed machines of its day.
The contents are a mask of kabuki paper cut on a plotter exactly to the shape of the glazing. The abbreviation TFace says that the pieces are prepared for both sides of the canopy. The frame thus stays sharply bounded seen from the outside and from the pilot's space alike, and the inner surfaces can be sprayed in the interior shade before the cabin is closed. Enclosed discs make painting the tires easier.
First free the glazing of grease and fingerprints, lay the individual pieces with tweezers from the center toward the edge and apply the pressure with a blunt tool so that no scratches arise. Apply the paint in several weak layers, otherwise it likes to run under the edge. Peel the mask off while the paint has only just dried, not after several days of hardening.
The set is cut to the outlines of a particular kit from Revell in 1:48 scale. The model, the glue and the paints are not part of the delivery.
The Mk.VI version was divided into several forms. Machines with the AI Mk.VIII radar in a blunt nose guarded the night sky over the British Isles, whereas the examples of Coastal Command carried rockets and bombs and hunted ships in the Bay of Biscay. It is exactly this branching that makes the type a rewarding theme, because every squadron had a camouflage solution of its own.
