This set from the LööK line of the Czech company Eduard is a color-printed resin instrument panel in 1:48 scale for the cockpit of the Beaufort. On aircraft sets of this line the panel tends to be complemented by photo-etched seat belts. It is an accessory to a kit, not a model in its own right: the base kit has to be obtained separately.
The Bristol Beaufort was a British twin-engine torpedo bomber that grew out of the design of the Blenheim light bomber but had a more substantial fuselage and more powerful engines. The Mk.I version was powered by Bristol Taurus radial engines and served with RAF Coastal Command: it attacked shipping targets with torpedoes and bombs, laid mines and flew patrols over the North Sea and in the Mediterranean. The crew numbered four men and the cabin with its glazed nose is clearly visible on a model, so it is worth investing in.
The panel arrives color-printed and is not painted. Cut it away from the carrier fret, sand the trace left by the cut and wash the part in lukewarm soapy water. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue: cement for plastic will not join resin and the solvent could damage the print. The instruments benefit from a drop of transparent gloss varnish, which creates the impression of glazed dials. The original plastic panel from the kit usually has to be sanded away and the new part tried dry first.
The set is supplied without the base kit. Glue, paints and the model of the aircraft are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
