A British 50-gallon drop tank with its rack, 1:48 scale, is a resin accessory for an aircraft model, not a kit. The tank with its rack is fitted to a finished model of a British aircraft.

This is not an airplane model. It is a resin accessory from the Czech maker Brengun in 1:48 scale representing a British drop tank of 50 gallons together with the rack by which the tank was attached to the aircraft. The accessory is intended for completing a model of a British Second World War aircraft.
A jettisonable drop tank extended the range of fighters and fighter-bombers. On a model it is one of the details that immediately sets the character of the machine: an aircraft with a tank fitted reads to the viewer as a machine on a long mission, while a clean fuselage suggests a training or defensive flight. The rack also gives the underside of the fuselage or the wing a structure that a kit often handles with no more than a suggested bump.
First wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water: there is usually some mold release residue on the surface, and neither paint nor glue holds on it. Cut the casting block off with a fine-toothed saw or a cutting disc; never break it, as resin is brittle and will crack somewhere you do not expect. Sand wet, as resin dust must not be inhaled. It is bonded exclusively with super glue, as modeling cement for plastic does not dissolve resin. Apply a primer before painting. With a tank it pays to check that the shape and position of the rack match the underside of your model, and to sand the contact face if need be.
This is an accessory to a model, not an aircraft kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
