The figure 1:48 Chicken is a small accessory meant for scenes built in 1:48 scale. Offset Scale Models makes exactly these small things — castings and printed parts added to finished models of aircraft, vehicles and figures. A chicken is one of those subjects that turn the empty area around a model into a scene with a story.
In 1:48 scale it is mainly aircraft that get built, so this figure tends to be welcome at grass and field airfields, by a hangar built onto a farm, or beside a vehicle parked at the edge of a landing strip. It also works as a guide to scale: around an aircraft a person judges sizes less well, and a familiar animal reminds them. How many pieces the package holds does not follow from the name.
Wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water before painting — mold release residue is the most common reason paint flakes off. Cut the casting remains off with a sharp scalpel, sand the surface back and protect your airways when sanding resin. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue; cement for plastic will not help here. In 1:48 the figure really is small, so a primer, one covering tone and a light accentuation of the edges with a dry brush will do; an exaggerated wash would rather smudge the small shape.
The figure is supplied unpainted. The paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
