Single-sided masks for a model of the De Havilland Chipmunk T.20 trainer in 1:48. The set is intended for the Airfix kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The glazed cockpit of this two-seat trainer is long and intricate, so defining it by hand holds you up more than all the rest of the painting. This single-sided version is aimed at the outer frames of a 1:48 model and does away with exactly that work. It is based on the dimensions of the Airfix kit.
The DHC-1 type was the first design of its own by the Canadian branch of de Havilland and it followed on from the legendary Tiger Moth biplane. The two seats are in tandem, power comes from the air-cooled inverted inline Gipsy Major and the machine is known for its pleasant behavior in aerobatics, which made it the typical basic trainer. It was built not only in Canada but also in Europe, and it was built in large numbers. For a great many pilots it was the very first machine in which they left the ground on their own.
Trainers usually carry prominent yellow or red bands, which are sprayed over a light undercoat so that they cover. Deal with the cockpit frames only after them. Let the coat on the fuselage cure properly and only then remove the masks. On training machines it is worth paying attention to the small areas of wear around the kick-in steps, because that is where the equipment was most worn.
