A resin pilot's seat for the British Boulton Paul Defiant aircraft in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker CMK. Plastic seats from kits tend to be needlessly thick and without any internal rendering; the casting has thin walls, sharp edges and the details of the structure suggested. Under the glazing of a cockpit that is a difference impossible to overlook.
The Boulton Paul Defiant was an unusual fighter aircraft: it had no fixed gun armament in the wing at all and concentrated all its firepower in a rotating gun turret behind the pilot's cockpit. In daylight combat this concept did not prove itself, because the machine could not fire forwards and was heavy. It did come into its own as a night fighter, though, and later in auxiliary roles.
Wash the part in lukewarm water with detergent, cut the casting block off with a saw and level the surface. Paint the seat off the model: a base in the interior shade, a dark wash into the recesses, the edges picked out with a dry brush. Add the seat belts from photo-etch or from a strip of foil, because it is exactly they that make a cockpit alive. Only then set the seat in place and close the fuselage up.
The set is an accessory for a kit and does not replace the kit. Paints, glue and the model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
