Responsibility details are not available.
This item is not a kit of an aircraft but a detail accessory in cast resin from the Czech maker CMK in 1:48 scale. It captures the blind flying hood, that is the folding screen over the rear cockpit of the de Havilland DH.82 trainer biplane. The part is fitted to a model that has already been built and replaces the open cockpit with a characteristic covered one.
A blind flying hood was used on prewar and wartime trainer biplanes during instrument flying training. The pupil sat in the rear cockpit under a fabric screen that made it impossible for him to see out, so he had to rely purely on the instruments, while the instructor in the front cockpit watched the traffic around them. A covered cockpit is one of the most conspicuous recognition features of machines from training units and gives a model a clear explanation of what the aircraft was for.
Wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with detergent, so that the mold release agent disappears. Cut the casting block off with a saw and sand the surface wet and with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate; ordinary cement for plastic does not work. Apply a primer before painting, otherwise the paint will hold badly on smooth resin. Since it is a fabric screen, it pays to work with a soft matte shade and a restrained accenting of the folds.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and without glue. It is not a model of the aircraft in its own right.
