1:48 E/A-6 Intruder, canopy stencils (Monogram, Revell, Hasegawa) prepare the framing of the wide glazing of the carrier attack aircraft.

Cut shapes for the canopy frames of the Grumman A-6 carrier attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. The set is aimed at the older Monogram, Revell and Hasegawa moldings listed in the name of the item.
The A-6 first flew in 1960 and brought a capability nobody else had at the time: to attack at night and in cloud a target the crew never sees. The pilot and the navigator sit side by side, the second man a little lower and to the right so as to be nearer the radar screen. Under the blunt nose a turret with a thermal imager and a laser rangefinder appeared on later machines. The type served from Vietnam through the Mediterranean to the Persian Gulf and left the decks only at the end of the 1990s.
The glazing of the Intruder consists mostly of flat surfaces separated by thick frames, so the edge comes out sharp as soon as you lay the stencil exactly into the engraved division. Work with a fresh edge; a blunt one slips on a glossy part and runs off easily. Before spraying, run a fingernail over the edges so that no air bubble is left under them. On moldings from the 1980s the clear part tends to be thicker and slightly distorted, so it is worth polishing it with a sanding sponge and polish before gluing. The covering then holds considerably more reliably on a smooth surface.
