Yakovlev UT-2 / UT-2M (2 in 1) is an injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet trainers in 1:144 scale from Mikromir. The package contains models of both versions.

An injection-molded plastic kit in the tiny 1:144 scale that offers both versions of the Soviet trainer in one package, the UT-2 and the modernized UT-2M. Mikromir is a short-run maker, so the parts are fine and the build calls for more precision; the package is usually completed by photo-etched parts and decals. For its size it is a rewarding pair that builds quickly for a display case.
The Yakovlev UT-2 was a two-seat basic trainer of the Soviet Air Force from the second half of the 1930s. Thanks to its largely wooden structure it was easy and cheap to build and became the main type for training thousands of pilots before and during the Second World War. The UT-2M version brought aerodynamic and structural changes that improved the handling of the machine. The type stayed in service into the 1950s.
Cut out and clean up the small parts carefully. Use thin cement on the plastic and super glue on the photo-etched parts. In a small scale a fine coat of paint from an airbrush over a primer shows to advantage; glue the thin struts and the landing gear with a light touch.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
