A resin detail set from Aires in 1:48 scale showing the speed brakes of the American McDonnell F-101 Voodoo in the A and C versions. It is not an airplane model but an accessory for a plastic kit. The cast parts allow an open rendering of the speed brakes with finely worked inner structure and replace the matching parts of the kit.
The F-101 Voodoo was a twin-engine supersonic aircraft of the Cold War, which appeared in forms for bomber escort, for tactical strike and for photo-reconnaissance. The single-seat A and C versions served as fighter-bombers able to carry both bomb and rocket armament. The Voodoo was marked by its large size, long range and powerful engines.
Wash the parts to remove the mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and align them with the fuselage of the kit. Bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and sand with airway protection. The open speed brakes come alive once painted and lightly brought out inside with a wash.
This is a resin accessory for a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
