This set from the Czech maker CMK is not a kit in its own right but a detail accessory: a resin replica of the jet engine, made for models of the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter fighter in 1:48 scale. It makes it possible to create a striking diorama or display scene with the engine bay exposed, or with the engine removed and standing beside the aircraft. The resin castings offer fine detail of the accessories and surfaces that injection-molded plastic usually does not capture.
The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter is an American supersonic fighter with a characteristic very thin trapezoidal wing, nicknamed the missile with a man in it. It was powered by a single powerful turbojet with an afterburner, thanks to which it reached high speeds and rates of climb.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with a detergent to remove the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off, clean the surfaces up and protect your airways when sanding resin. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The engine comes out with gradual layering of colors, metallic shades and gentle weathering on the accessories; for an exposed bay, fine wiring from thin wire also suits.
The set holds resin engine parts only; it is not a model in its own right and holds neither glue nor paints. A matching base plastic kit is needed to use it.
