The stencils 1:48 F-105 D Thunderchief, canopy frames for the single-seat cockpit. The name does not give a double-sided form.
Responsibility details are not available.
Stencils for the framing of the cockpit of the single-seat D version, 1:48 scale. A double-sided form is not given in the name, so count on work from the outer side of the glazing.
The pilot sat under a single section of canopy that hinged upwards and was attached at the rear. The windscreen consists of a flat front pane with side pieces and thick posts between them. Behind the pilot the glazing continues for only a short stretch, so the whole glazed area is noticeably shorter than on the two-seat version. Along the spine of the fuselage a long fairing runs back from the cockpit all the way to the tail surfaces and when masking it determines where you will run the boundary of the camouflage fields. The combination of narrow frames and a flat front pane makes painting by hand on this type a particularly thankless job.
First wash the clear part in lukewarm soapy water and let it dry freely, so that no fingerprints are left on it. Lay the stencils down one at a time and press the edges with a blunt tool. Go over with the paint in two or three light coats and let the last of them only set before you start lifting them off. If the cockpit equipment is visible under the frame, spray the shade of the cockpit first and the exterior finish onto it.
