IDF Early Sand Yellow 17 ml.

Real Colors RC880 IDF Early Sand Yellow, 17 ml

A modeling acrylic paint from the Real Colors range by AK Interactive, the manufacturer's part number RC880, in a 17 ml container. The abbreviation IDF stands for the Israel Defense Forces. The shade is listed as an early sand yellow, that is a light warm tone with no green cast.

The color

Israeli vehicles wore a single-color finish suited to a dry landscape, and its tone shifted over the years. The word Early in the name marks this shade as the older one in the range, which later sand-gray tones follow on from in the same offering. On a model it forms the overall surface of armored and wheeled vehicles and will serve just as well as a light earthy tone on crates, tarpaulins and cargo.

How to work with the paint

• Shake the bottle properly every time you take paint out, as the pigment settles at the bottom.
• A light paint needs an even base, or the joints and filled places will show through.
• Apply it in several thin coats, so that the welds and the scribed detail stay legible.
• Lighten the middle of large surfaces and darken the area around the seams, as a single-color vehicle otherwise looks flat.
• For thinning and for cleaning your tools use the thinner intended for the Real Colors range; the ratio is given in the manufacturer's instructions.

Packaging and storage

Keep the paint in a carefully closed bottle away from heat and frost. Thickened paint can be thinned down, but check the resulting tone on a test sample. The package holds one bottle of 17 ml. A thinner, brushes, an airbrush and a model are not included, unless stated otherwise.
