Injection-molded plastic kit of the American fifth generation stealth fighter F-22A Raptor in 1:48 scale from Italeri. The model has finely engraved panel lines and clearly laid out parts. According to the manufacturer, the box contains a clear part for the canopy, a transparent panel for the head-up display and decals for several marking options of US Air Force aircraft. The assembled model is about 39 cm long, so it is a strong centerpiece for a display case.
The F-22A Raptor is a single-seat twin-engined fifth generation fighter meant to win air superiority. It is marked by low radar observability technologies, thrust vectoring, supersonic flight without afterburner (supercruise) and advanced avionics. Its angular shapes and internal weapon bays are a direct consequence of the demand for a small radar signature. The Raptor is among the most capable fighters of the present day and forms the peak of the US Air Force.
Use liquid cement for plastic and work in subassemblies. Finish and paint the cockpit and the nose gear bay before closing up the fuselage. Apply a primer before painting; an airbrush is ideal. The gray stealth scheme benefits from gentle highlighting of the panel lines and a discreet tonal transition between the panels; crisp mask edges help with the transitions between shades. The canopy can be masked with cut masking tape.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
