1:72 Mk 77 napalm tank is a pair of incendiary tanks for American aircraft: an accessory to a kit, not a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The package holds two pieces of the American Mk 77 incendiary tank in 1:72 scale. It is not a model of an aircraft; it is external ordnance hung under the wings of a machine that is already built. The manufacturer is Brengun, which carries a comparable set in 1:48 scale as well.
An incendiary tank is told from an ordinary bomb at a glance: it has a smooth, thin-walled cylindrical body with rounded ends and lacks both a tail stabilizer and a solid thick-walled casing. It is precisely that absence of a stabilizer that makes the difference on a model; the silhouette under the wing is shorter and cleaner than that of a bomb of the same size. For a builder it means there is no need to fear the most sensitive part of the casting, but the smoothness of the surface matters all the more.
Separate the tanks from the casting block with a saw rather than with nippers, and sand the surface left by the cut down gradually through several grits until it is polished out. On a smooth cylindrical body every score stands out that on a broken-up part you would not notice at all. Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent before gluing, because of the remains of the mold release agent. They are glued with cyanoacrylate in drops. Seal the base with primer and apply the paint in two thin coats rather than in one heavy one; on a smooth area a heavy coat shows up as orange peel. Do both tanks at the same time, so that they have an identical surface and shade. When hanging them, watch the symmetry with a look from the front.
This is an accessory set, not a kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
