This item is not a kit but a resin replacement for the boarding ladder of an F-4B Phantom II model in 1:48 scale. The ladder belongs to the parts where a plastic mold runs into its limits: the rungs have to be thin and even, or the whole thing comes across as coarse. A resin casting allows finer profiles and crisper edges. An extended ladder on a model also tells a story at once, because the viewer reads the aircraft as a machine just parked on the flight line. Quickboost is an accessory line of the Czech manufacturer Aires.
The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II is a twin-engine, two-seat jet aircraft. The B version is the naval variant with two crew members. Boarding the Phantom is handled by an extending ladder on the left side of the forward fuselage, which retracts once the crew is aboard.
Wash the casting first in lukewarm soapy water. Cut the casting block off with a saw and true the surface up carefully, because the thin rungs crack easily, so work without pressure. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a primer before painting, otherwise every imperfection of the surface shows on such a thin profile. The metal parts are worth bringing out with a dark wash, which runs between the rungs and sets them apart from the fuselage.
