A resin detail set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. It is not a model of an airplane but a set of replacement wheels for the American versions of the Phantom II (the F-4C, D, E, F and G) in 1:48 scale. The cast wheels bring the fine detail of the tread pattern as well as of the hubs that plastic from the box will not reach.
The sturdy landing gear of the Phantom with its wide tires is a visually striking part of a model. The resin rendering captures the pattern of the tire casing as well as the structure of the hub faithfully and tends to be cast with a suggestion of load, so the tire sits realistically flattened at the ground and the model comes across convincingly.
Wash the parts clean of the mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off and sand them down with protection of the breathing. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Paint the tires in a matte rubber black, shade the hubs according to the machine and dust them gently with pigments for an impression of service.
This is an accessory, not a complete kit. It calls for the matching base model, which is not included in the package. Glue and paints are not enclosed.
