3D-printed color interior decals for the F-4E in the late form without the DMAS system, 1:48 scale. Cut for the Meng kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The full version of the color decals with three-dimensional relief, printed on decal paper. The set aims at the late form of the aircraft, which did not receive the digital modular avionics known by the abbreviation DMAS. That equipment is exactly what changes the look of the instrument panels, which is why Quinta makes both forms of cockpit as separate sets. Cut for the Meng kit in 1:48 scale.
Across the F-4E family both the wing and the equipment of the two cockpits changed during production and in later upgrades. The set for the late machines without DMAS therefore will not suit a model built as an early aircraft, nor a machine with upgraded avionics: not in size, but in the content of the panels. Before buying, then, check which form your kit represents and which color scheme you are planning. With interior decals that matters more than with external accessories.
A finished interior is sensitive to abrasion, because the printed layer lies on the surface. For the same reason no decal softener is used here; it would attack the printed resin. Once all the parts have dried, therefore, go over the cockpit with matte varnish in thin coats, not in one heavy pass. The varnish evens out the sheen between the decal and the surrounding paint and at the same time strengthens the edges, which might otherwise lift when the seats are set in. Mask off any displays whose gloss you want to keep, or go over them with a drop of gloss varnish after matting.
