Aires 1:48 F-4J/S Phantom II wheel bay is a resin detail set of the wheel bays for a plastic kit of the Phantom II. It is not a model of the aircraft but an accessory to a build.

The detail set from the Czech manufacturer Aires in 1:48 scale replaces the simplified wheel bays of a plastic kit of the F-4J, or rather the F-4S Phantom II fighter aircraft with more accurate castings in casting resin. It is not a kit of the aircraft but an aftermarket accessory, which is built into a model under construction. The base model is obtained separately.
On large carrier fighters the wheel bays are among the most closely examined places on a model. They are visible from below, when looking at the model at eye level and in a photograph, and injection-molded plastic is necessarily simplified there because of the division of the molds. A resin casting allows a finer, deeper structure of the walls, the stiffeners and the runs, so the space of the bay looks three-dimensional and varied. The set is made for 1:48 scale; because the individual molds of the Phantom differ in dimensions, it pays to try the parts out dry before building.
First wash the resin parts in warm water with detergent - that way you remove the remains of the release agent from the mold, on which paint would not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a snap-off knife and never break them away. Sand wet and with respiratory protection, as resin dust should not be breathed in. It is glued with cyanoacrylate super glue or with epoxy; ordinary modeling cement for plastic does not dissolve resin. Try the parts in the fuselage dry and sand the plastic out as needed. Spray a primer, then the shade itself and pick the structure out with a dark wash.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
