Quinta Studio 1:48 F-82H Twin Mustang fills out the cockpits of the all-weather far northern version of the twin-fuselage fighter with colored instrument fittings in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is a modeling accessory, not the aircraft itself. It holds color-printed interior elements cut for the twin-fuselage machine in the H version and serves to make the space under the canopies look filled out even from close up. The modeler thus gets the look of the instruments without having to draw out the individual scales and switches with a brush.
The letter H denotes the version adapted for service in the freezing conditions of Alaska. The machines served with squadrons tasked with all-weather interception, where the second crewman worked a radar housed in a pod under the center wing section. It was precisely that dual role that showed in the fit-out of the two cockpits, which therefore were not mirror images of each other as on the day escort versions.
Work in a well lit space and with tweezers with fine jaws; the segments for the crew station tend to be tiny and are easily lost. The surface under the set should be smoothed and free of grease. Once it is finished a semi-matte overcoat suits the job, as it unifies the sheen of the cockpit, and a discreet dark shade flowed into the edges of the panels adds depth.
