A resin detail set, the F-8E Crusader gun bay in 1:48 scale from the Aires brand. It is an accessory showing the open gun bay, not a model of the aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin detail set from the Aires brand in 1:48 scale renders the gun bay of the Vought F-8E Crusader carrier fighter. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory for a kit that lets you open up and detail the area of the four 20 mm cannons in the forward fuselage. The set is intended for more experienced modelers and is added to a base Crusader kit in this scale.
The Vought F-8 Crusader was an American supersonic carrier fighter of the US Navy and the Marine Corps from the turn of the 1950s and 1960s. Its distinctive feature was the variable-incidence wing, which was raised for takeoff and landing. Its armament was four 20 mm Colt Mk.12 cannons housed in the sides of the forward fuselage, and it is their bay that this set renders.
First wash the resin parts to remove mold release residue, then cut off the casting blocks and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Before gluing them in, check how they seat in the fuselage of the base kit and adjust the opening if needed. An open gun bay comes into its own with light shadow accents and a little grime.
This is a resin accessory for a kit, not the aircraft model itself. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
